Races Focused on Economy
Every faction in Total War: Warhammer 3 needs some form of economy to support their armies. However, with some races, you will have to pay much closer attention to what buildings you build, when you build them, and where you place them. These factions are ideal for those who enjoy planning.
Chaos Dwarfs (DLC)
- included in the DLC Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs
- require “workforce” for the economy, which they gain after battles or through trade
- several special resources like equipment and raw materials that you need to keep in balance and are needed for upgrades
- access to caravans to trade with distant cities
- secondary strength: offensive military
Nurgle
- included in Total War: Warhammer 3 (base game)
- buildings undergo “cycles” that make them stronger or weaker
- when you build which building where influences how well you can upgrade your armies
- diseases help you strengthen your economy or combat strength or weaken opponents
- additional commander in the DLC Tamurkhan – Thrones of Decay
Grand Empire Cathay
- included in Total War: Warhammer 3 (base game)
- starts in areas with lots of trade resources
- caravans as a central mechanic for trade and economy
- Yin-Yang system in cities and armies that can strengthen or weaken certain aspects
- additional legendary commander in the DLC Yuan Bo – Shadows of Change
Skaven
- included in Total War: Warhammer 2
- must manage food as an additional resource
- too little food brings severe penalties
- can build sub-cities beneath enemy settlements
- in sub-cities, you build buildings for additional income, food, or research
- secondary strength: offensive military
- additional commanders in the DLCs The Prophet & The Warlock, The Shadow & The Blade and The Twisted & The Twilight
Dark Elves
- included in Total War: Warhammer 2
- must manage slaves to secure economic bonuses
- faster constructions cost slaves
- too many slaves destabilize a region
- secondary strength: offensive military
- additional commanders in the DLCs The Queen & The Crone and The Shadow & The Blade
Vampire Coast (DLC)
- included in the DLC Curse of the Vampire Coast
- can establish pirate dens in foreign cities to generate gold
- can find treasure maps that point the way to buried treasures
- partially have bonuses for finding treasures at sea
- secondary strength: offensive military
