Whoever is too mean in inZOI on Steam will be punished and turned into a ghost and must make amends for everything

The big Sims alternative inZOI on Steam punishes evil characters even after death and lets them return as ghosts.

What is inZOI? The upcoming game inZOI is a life simulation from the Korean developer Krafton and is set to be released in Early Access on Steam in 2025. According to the current plans of the developers, the release is scheduled for March 28, 2025.

The simulation offers a vast, freely walkable world with numerous details and an extensive character editor. The game also impresses graphically, as it uses Unreal Engine 5.

As PCGamer reports, the developers have now released new details about the game on their Discord server. This time the focus is on the afterlife.

Those who do evil become ghosts

What is the deal with the ghosts? inZOI features a karma system that constantly evaluates whether your character does good or bad and distributes positive or negative karma points accordingly.

At the end of your character’s life, it will be decided whether you were a good or a bad ZOI. If you collected more negative than positive karma points during your life, your character will be denied entry into the world of the dead.

Instead, your character will return to Earth as a ghost and try to bring their karma points into the positive. Only then will their soul be redeemed.

Can you play as a ghost? Playing as a ghost will not be available at the Early Access launch in 2025. The ghosts will be controlled by the system and can “encounter your characters at designated times and under certain conditions”.

Further gameplay mechanics are expected to be added only after the Early Access launch. However, the gameplay of the ghosts is not intended to dominate the entire game, writes Game Director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim.

The ghost system is intended to be a special feature that does not overshadow normal gameplay permanently. In inZOI, you can transfer your own face into the game; seeing yourself as a ghost in the game is a rather unusual idea.
