Riders Republic
Genre: Sports MMO | Developer: Ubisoft | Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S | Release Date: October 28, 2021 | Model: Buy2Play
What kind of game is this? Riders Republic revolves around extreme sports. In lobbies with up to 50 players, you can snowboard, ski, paraglide, and do other activities.
The open world is inspired by American national parks. There are highlights like a career mode, team modes, or the city playground. In the latter, we can move freely in the open world, perform tricks, and chat with other players.
What Riders Republic is all about can be seen in the following trailer:
How is Riders Republic currently doing? Since December 2023, Riders Republic has been in Season 9. There is still active work on new content to keep fans engaged. However, player numbers show that interest in the sports MMO is declining.
In the last 30 days, an average of only 644 people have been active on Steam. During the Steam release, which took place two years after the game was released, there were still twice as many players. Player numbers on console or in the Ubisoft Launcher are unknown.
The title is being developed by the Ubisoft Annecy team. In the future, the studio is set to release additional games like XDefiant that will require a large team to maintain the servers.
That’s why I believe Riders Republic will die: Since the release of XDefiant will consume some resources, I think Ubisoft will be forced to give up the sports game this year.
The free-to-play shooter is expected to be released in 2024 and is likely to entertain more players than Riders Republic. The current player numbers on Steam certainly do not suggest that the sports game is garnering much interest.
