If you want to play Where Winds Meet, you need to choose a DirectX version on PC. MeinMMO explains which interface you should choose.
At the beginning of the game, you will be asked on Steam which DirectX version you want to start Where Winds Meet with: Either DirectX 11 or DirectX 12. MeinMMO shows you which interface you should choose to start and where the differences lie.
This version of DirectX is the best for Where Winds Meet
DirectX 12 or not? We have tested and compared both DirectX 11 and version 12 in Where Winds Meet for you:
- With DirectX 12, we achieved stable frame rates between 120 and 130 FPS at WQHD and Ultra settings.
- With DirectX 11, we also achieved high frame rates of over 120 FPS at the same settings, but these were significantly less stable, with large spikes up and down.
- With a frame lock at 120 FPS or enabled V-Sync, you can manage the strong spikes in the FPS rate quite well. However, note that V-Sync increases your latency.
Our recommendation: Choose DirectX 12 when starting the game. It is the newer and more modern interface that also works more stable and consistently. DirectX 11 is more suitable for older graphics cards. DirectX is a graphics interface (API) that is essential for the game.
If you have already started the game with one version and switch to the other interface at the next startup, you will receive a warning right after starting asking if you want to change your graphic settings as well. You can decline this so that your old settings remain unchanged.
