How can and what can you play in coop? If you have played a world and can freely move around in the open world, you automatically unlock the ability to invite up to 4 more players to your group.
To play in coop, you must select the option “Invite to Coop Room” in the menu. Then you can bring your friends into your world and tackle all kinds of content together.
If you are with your group in coop mode, you can play the following special coop content:
- Share collected items like chests and curiosities
- Complete various events and side quests (these are marked with a coop symbol on the map)
- Enjoy various recreational activities, such as mini-games
- Master bosses and other challenges in the open world
- Undertake campaigns (Note: These are not the story quests, but a kind of campaigns)
All players in the session receive rewards when they complete side or campaign tasks for the first time. Additionally, those nearby also receive rewards for solving puzzles.
However, there are a few limitations: Only certain quest items that the one who opens the coop room possesses are visible and usable for everyone. Once you return to your own world, all your items will be displayed normally again.
Can you also complete dungeons in coop? Yes, you can also join dungeons with your coop group. However, the player limit for this is increased to 5 or 10 players, depending on the difficulty, allowing you to invite more players. This only applies to that specific dungeon. After that, the maximum player number will decrease again.

What is the MMO mode? After some level-ups, you unlock the so-called online or MMO mode in Where Winds Meet. You can activate this in the settings by switching from story mode to MMO mode. There you will encounter other players in the open world and can experience special multiplayer activities together.
In this mode, progress on certain chests, finds, and puzzles is shared, so you can collect rewards together. However, the focus is clearly on social interaction.
The story campaign and side quests are not available here – and even ordinary enemies no longer appear in the open world.

What PvP content is available? In the MMO mode, you can also face various PvP content. This includes:
Instanced PvP
This content is started and managed through the menu.
- Arena
- Here you face off in 1:1 or larger groups in various duels in direct combat
- Guild Wars
- Large, instanced battles where player-led guilds battle 30vs30 against each other
- Reminiscent of typical MOBA games
- Battle Royale / Perception Forest
- A separate game mode where players fight each other in a shrinking area until only one or one team remains
Open-World PvP / Criminal System
- Duels
- Players can challenge each other to duels in the open world, which must be accepted by both sides
- Bounties
- If you commit theft or kill NPCs and get caught, a bounty will be placed on you, and you may be hunted and killed by other players
- Assassinations
- Through the “revenge system” you can also accept and carry out assassination missions from other players
- Prison Breaks
- If you land in prison, you have three options:
- Pay a bribe
- Perform community service
- Attempt to break out
- If you choose the breakout, a PvPvE event starts where you can fight against NPC guards, but also against players who interfere as “defenders” and support the guards – and thereby of course collect rewards
- If you land in prison, you have three options:
Sect PvP
Some sects, which are a mix of guilds and classes, have their own PvP rules, gameplay elements, and goals. So if you enjoy competitive play, you can, for example, join the Midnight Blades.
This sect clearly targets PvP fans – players who roam the land as assassins or worship death itself. Every bounty is tracked down, and no one is spared. If you are dedicated to fighting against everything and everyone, this is the place for you.
The focus is on your karma value, which you increase by eliminating other players. To rise within your own ranks, you even have to eliminate higher-ranked members of your sect.
Other sects also offer values and rules with which you can trick or outplay your fellow players, such as the Nine Mortal Ways or the Velvet Shadow. Similarly, warrior sects like Raging Tides offer advantages for those looking to compete with others.
The sects of Where Winds Meet are also an aspect that becomes even more dynamic and exciting through the game’s multiplayer.
