Anyone who acts in a movie or a series by Marvel suddenly becomes part of a large universe. One actress was not prepared for that and first had to catch up on a huge amount of content.
Which actress is it? Emily Hampshire is a Canadian actress who has been seen in numerous series and films since 1994. These include 12 Monkeys, Schitt’s Creek or Cosmopolis by body horror master David Cronenberg.
She is also part of a new series by Marvel. Next year, Vision Quest will premiere on Disney+. This is a spin-off of WandaVision, another series that aired on the streaming service in 2021. Paul Bettany will once again appear as Vision, around whom the still unknown story will revolve.
Emily Hampshire plays the AI E.D.I.T.H, developed by Tony Stark. The acronym stands for “Even Dead I’m the Hero.” It has various abilities in the areas of security and defense.
Before filming could even begin, Emily Hampshire faced a problem. On one hand, she was not familiar with Marvel’s stories at all, and on the other hand, she didn’t even know what the abbreviation “MCU” meant.
A mammoth task before work begins
What does the actress say? During a red carpet interview, Hampshire spoke with etalk about her new role. She knew a year before the announcement of her participation that she had been awarded the role, but she still couldn’t quite imagine what it meant to now be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, short MCU:
When I got this job, which I couldn’t talk about for a year, which was very difficult, my lawyer told me: “Oh, now you’re in the MCU.” And I had to look up what MCU means.

The actress naturally got informed and certainly was quite astonished when she realized how many films and series she had to catch up on to be up to date. After all, there are currently 37 films and 14 series, plus some specials – you can find an overview of this on MeinMMO. Emily Hampshire diligently filled her knowledge gap:
But now I’m fully on board. I’ve seen all the films. Before, I didn’t know much about the MCU. Now I know everything.

Equipped with sufficient knowledge about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, filming could begin.
How did the shoot go? The actress had already gained a lot of experience in front of the camera. However, working for Marvel was somewhat unusual. In the interview, Hampshire expressed her surprise on this point as well:
I was shocked at how secretive everything was; we even had to hand in our scripts at the end of the day. I know many secret things that I can’t tell you.

With such a large and expensive project as a Marvel series, there is indeed strict confidentiality to prevent details from being released before the premiere. When exactly the series will start is still unclear, only 2026 is set as the year. Then Vision Quest will be part of the sixth phase of the MCU.
