The Game Director reveals the numbers and shares which hero from Overwatch is played the most frequently.
Surely every player has their personal nemesis in Overwatch. For some, it’s the Hanzo, who is in their team every round, or the Widowmaker, who precisely lands every headshot on their avatar. But which heroes are actually the most popular in terms of pure playtime?
In the official forum, players were enthusiastically discussing which hero is the most annoying, as they appear in every single match. After some wild speculation, Jeff Kaplan stepped in and released the ranking of playtime for all heroes. Although he did not mention the exact numbers, the order is correct.
Most Popular Overwatch Heroes in Quick Play
For “Quick Play” between 02.08 and 09.08, the heroes’ playtime is as follows (highest playtime first):

Overall, the playtimes of the heroes are quite satisfactory. Although Genji and Mercy are particularly popular, there doesn’t seem to be a great need for action – at least not for Kaplan personally.
