Webedia Germany, a subsidiary of the French Webedia Group, is expanding its portfolio in the digital gaming segment by acquiring the gaming portal Mein-MMO. Previously, Mein-MMO was already a partner of the gaming network OnlineWelten, which also belongs to Webedia.
The young online magazine, founded by Dawid Hallmann, focuses on topics related to multiplayer games for PC and consoles – from current shooters like Destiny and The Division to classics like World of Warcraft.
Since its founding in October 2013, the portal has been steadily growing and now reaches over 2 million visits a month. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a growth of over 150 percent. “The gaming industry is undergoing a transformation. There are fewer new releases and more titles that receive regular expansions and DLCs. We accompany these games intensively over a long period. Readers appreciate this offering. We have experienced tremendous support from fans and friends of various online games who have formed a community on our site,” explains Dawid Hallmann, Head of Mein-MMO.
Webedia Germany, based in Berlin and Munich, is already represented in the market with leading online gaming portals in the areas of games, consoles, technology, and home cinema. With gaming websites such as GameStar, GamePro, and the German-language IGN portal, the online entertainment publisher reaches over 5 million users monthly in Germany.
With its focus on online games, Mein-MMO complements Webedia’s gaming portfolio with diverse reporting from the MMO-enthusiastic team. “Our users have made the website what it is today: a pleasant place for gamers to exchange ideas about their shared hobby. With the acquisition by Webedia, we can realize our visions more than ever,” says Dawid Hallmann. “The growing relevance of multiplayer online games in the gaming industry opens up new marketing opportunities and cooperation models beyond our current offerings,” adds Ralf Sattelberger, Director Sales at Webedia Germany. “We look forward to walking this path together with Mein-MMO in the future.”
