Mewtwo seems to only stay in EX Raids for about 2 months in Pokémon GO. This was revealed by the website of The Pokémon Company.
When does Mewtwo disappear? First invitations for the EX Raid will go out on September 25 and from then on Mewtwo won’t even stay 2 months in the special raids. It will disappear again on November 12.
At least that was the information on the official website of The Pokémon Company, until they deleted it a few hours later. It seems it was shown by accident.
Mewtwo only briefly in EX Raids – What you need to know
Is the information confirmed? So far, Niantic has not commented on this information. Nevertheless, one can assume that the date is correct. After all, an official page from Pokémon, which is in direct contact with Niantic, showed this date.
Furthermore, Serebii, a website that is also connected with The Pokémon Company, confirmed this date.
What does this mean for the players? Since Mewtwo will not be available in EX Raids for even 2 months, players should take part in every EX Raid possible. After all, it can also be Shiny and learn the powerful move Shadow Ball.
Especially since it can learn Shadow Ball, players should complete as many EX Raids as possible. With Shadow Ball, Mewtwo becomes one of the best Ghost attackers in the game.
What comes after Mewtwo? This is still completely unclear. There are various suitable candidates, but Niantic hasn’t said anything about it yet.
How do I get an EX Raid invitation? You cannot just participate in EX Raids. You need an invitation to gain access.
You receive the invitation when you and many other players have completed some raids at an EX Raid Arena beforehand. This triggers such a raid and gives you the chance at Mewtwo.
Have you already hatched Pokémon from Generation 5 from eggs? Your chances of this are pretty low:
