What are the new Shinies? The first trainers have confirmed that Barboach and Carvanha are now available as shiny versions in the game. There are no other new Shinies.

These are the new quests: 8 new field research tasks are waiting for you at the Water Festival. Here are the tasks you need to complete:
- Earn a candy by walking with your buddy
- Reward: Encounter with a Barboach
- Defeat a Team Rocket Grunt
- Reward: Encounter with a Carvanha
- Catch 5 Water-type Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Krabby
- Evolve 3 Barboach or Carvanha
- Reward: Encounter with a Surskit

The quest where you need to take 5 photos is particularly quick to complete. You only need to select a Water Pokémon and then quickly press the shutter 5 times. They do not need to be different monsters.
These buddy Pokémon should you choose: If you are still struggling with the Barboach task from the special research, you should definitely choose Barboach as your buddy.
When you’re done, you should focus on Magikarp or Wailmer. You’ll find a candy after just 500 meters. This is good for the 3rd tier of the special research, but also for the new field research, where you get Barboach.
