Count Noctilus
The admiral of the Fleet of the Damned is not only a vampire but also comes from a very famous dynasty: the Von Carsteins. This family includes many of the most important vampires from Warhammer Fantasy, such as Mannfred von Carstein (the guy who is partly responsible for the end of the world of Warhammer Fantasy) and his father Vlad von Carstein.
Nyklaus von Carstein, as he is actually named, was tired of the constant power struggles within his family. He sought another way to gain power. He found this through studying the Winds of Magic—there are a total of eight, and they are the source of all magic in Warhammer Fantasy.
In his research, the Von Carstein discovered a storm of magic in the midst of the Great Ocean, which separates the continents of the Old World. And he intended to use it. In a dark ritual, for which he resurrected 1,200 mortals that he had personally killed, he created a massive whirlpool—and teleported himself and his fortress straight to the center of the Galleon Graveyard.
Ships from all oceans ultimately end up in the Galleon Graveyard. This place is filled to the brim with the remains of the dead—the perfect home for a necromancer. There, Nyklaus von Carstein founded his new empire, and he gave himself a new name: Count Noctilus. However, the true king of the Vampire Coast is another.
