The world of Warhammer lives by being constantly just one greater conflict away from complete destruction. The sometimes greatest danger in all settings: chaos. Since the gods rarely intervene directly, they have champions. We introduce you to the strongest ones here.
Chaos is a cosmic power that seeks to destroy order and is known for granting great power to its followers – if they are worthy. Particularly strong followers become champions or even have the chance to ascend to daemonhood.
What is ranked here? In the ranking, we list for you those champions who are still mortal (meaning “human”). The strongest traitor primarchs from Warhammer 40,000 have already been ranked.
You will also find not only champions from one world but from all three worlds of Warhammer: Fantasy, Age of Sigmar and 40,000. Chaos is the only constant between these worlds.
This is how we created the ranking: To determine which champion is truly the strongest, we considered not only the individual combat power but also the danger posed by each champion. That means: How likely is it that they can destroy the world?
For the ranking, we referred to various sources, including the Lexicanum, fan discussions, and official information from books and rule sets. We analyzed the sheer volume of data using AI and then individually rated the ranking.
Place 6: Typhus, Herald of Nurgle
In the last place of this ranking is the current champion of Nurgle, Typhus. Born as Calas Typhon on Barbarus, the home planet of the primarch Mortarion, the former human-xenos hybrid was accepted into the Death Guard Legion.
Even as a child, Typhus had strong psychic powers, which were suppressed during training, but his powers were later enhanced. He succumbed to chaos even before Mortarion or even Horus himself, similar to Erebus, the first heretic.
However, Typhus’ strength comes not only from his psychic abilities but from a combination of several things:
- He is an excellent fighter and wields a weapon that is said to have been dipped directly into Nurgle’s plague cauldron.
- His mere presence generates a deadly plague, the “Destroyer Plague,” which can annihilate entire planets. It is considered the cruelest disease in Nurgle’s arsenal and can even kill Space Marines.
- Due to Nurgle’s blessing, Typhus is already extremely resilient and resistant to all sorts of attacks, diseases, and poisons. Additionally, he wears Terminator armor, which is nearly impervious to anything.
Typhus is one of the few chaos champions who regularly holds a higher favor with his god than the respective daemon prince – here Mortarion. His mere appearance is enough to wipe out worlds.
