On yesterday’s Friday, the console versions of the online space shooter Warframe received new content. We present to you the event “Operation Rathuum”, take a look at the powerful weapons and decorative details, and reflect on the changes to some Warframes.
Operation Rathuum
The latest Warframe addition for PS4 and Xbox One bears the simple name “Rathuum” – true to the name of the event, which will last a total of 10 days since Friday evening. Here, you will be notified and asked for help by Cressa Tal, the head of the Steel Meridian Syndicate.
Kela de Thaym, who has not only received a visual overhaul but also some gadgets that make her highly mobile and therefore hard to catch, intercepted several Grineer defectors, who are now to be put before the court of Rathuum for the amusement of her followers.
To rescue them, you take their place in the arena and fight against their executioners. Your goal is to earn 100 Tribunal points, with either 10, 15, or 25 points awarded per match, depending on the difficulty of the battlefield. You should note that you have no access to your health, energy, shield, or ammo pods in the arenas.
Throughout the various arenas, you will find, just like in the Conclave, small refreshers. Additionally, various modifiers may be active, such as constant health reduction, a rapidly increasing enemy level, and similar effects.
Once you have gathered 100 Tribunal points, you will take a short trip to Kela herself. If the aspiring Spidergirl is defeated and scraped off the wall, you will receive the coordinates of the captured defectors. You can either hand these over to Cressa Tal or to your Syndicate, which has the highest reputation score at the moment. In exchange, you will receive 10,000 reputation points.
Rewards
The mobile woman herself has received 9 new mods for the event, which she can drop upon her demise. Additionally, she is the only source to obtain the blueprint for the new Twin Kohmak without purchasing it on the market.
However, Steel Meridian also rewards you during your campaign for justice, with the Rathuum badge, seal, and the melee weapon Furax Wraith.
On top of that, in the finally repeatable and somewhat more challenging arena, you can not only score an Orokin reactor but also earn a decorative trophy for your clan. Here, the sum of the best results from all participating clan members is decisive. How many executioners you need to execute for the best trophy in regard to the size of your clan can be found in the following table.
Weapons and Attire
As already mentioned, the Twin Kohmak is a new addition to the secondary fire weapon category. However, the Stradavar assault rifle also makes its debut on consoles. Here, you have the choice between semi-automatic and fully automatic firing modes.
But also for fans of “haute couture”, something new is offered with the Banshee Soprana Skin and the bundle including the seal and Sonicor Skin for the wardrobe. Thus, even in the bloodiest battle, she stylishly makes the ground shake. True to the motto: Beats by Banshee.
Additionally, a Henker profile picture package and a Henker Noggle statue package are available on the market, with the latter being available for a limited time only.
Furthermore, 4 new Augment mods for the Syndicates are waiting to be tested by you; one each for Ash, Banshee, Chroma, and Oberon.
Changes, so many changes…
But now let’s turn our attention away from the surface to the inner values of the Warframes. Here, several things have changed, causing the current update to cause some dissatisfaction among a number of players. But let’s start with the positive aspects.
After countless weeks in which some characters received a passive ability while others sadly missed out, every Warframe now possesses such an ability. This is in most cases oriented towards their respective actual abilities.
For instance, every weapon that Banshee carries is now regarded as “silent” and not alarming, Mag’s Bullet Jump draws loot towards her, and Volt can accumulate up to 1000 electricity damage points for his next attack just by running.
Mag and Volt are also in focus concerning the current character changes. Mag’s second ability, which is no longer “Magnetize” but now “Magnetize”, is in a sense the pivot of her power.
With it, she can hold up to 4 targets in place simultaneously. Other enemies within a certain radius will take damage over time, depending on their distance to the actual magnetized target. If she now uses her “Pull” on such a held enemy, the damage to this one is increased and there is a chance to literally tear them apart.
“Crush,” her ultimate, also benefits from “Magnetize,” as increased damage is dealt to affected enemies. Only “Polarize” does not bring any synergies with it, but it has been modified in such a way that it now expands like Nova’s ultimate. Additionally, instead of removing a percentage of enemy shields as before, a fixed amount is now removed. And targets with armor take health damage and a permanent armor reduction.
Volt did not have to undergo such drastic changes. His electric shield can now be absorbed, allowing him to move freely. Only his ultimate now converts enemies within range into Tesla pillars, which deal electric shocks to enemies that run into their radius.
Other Warframes affected by design changes include Mesa, Mirage, Valkyr, Excalibur, and Trinity. If one of your favorites is among them, it is worth taking a closer look at the English Warframe forum to avoid any nasty surprises.
So you can still bite the enemies fiercely tomorrow, or something like that.
