During the ongoing Pax East in Boston, a stream by the developers took place on Friday evening featuring Warframe, showcasing some upcoming innovations. What exactly is coming your way can be found out here.
New Warframe
All space ninjas who preferred to visit Baro Ki’Teer last night to stock up on useful mods or decorative items likely missed Digital Extremes’ preview of Warframe’s Update 19.0, which was broadcast live from Pax East in Boston. Therefore, we provide you with a brief summary of what was shown.
With the next expansion, there will be a new Warframe. This still unnamed character will revolve around the overarching theme of fairies, which will also be reflected in his or her abilities.
For example, razor-sharp butterflies will be at her disposal. Additionally, true to her design theme and mischievous nature, she will be able to transform into a small fairy and face off against the big bad enemies.
Rocket League in Warframe?
For fans of PvP, or rather those who may not have warmed up to it so far and tend to avoid battling other Tenno, a new game mode will be added to the Conclave. This will be sports-based and cater to players who master Warframe’s parkour mechanics. Lunaro will be its name, giving you the opportunity to earn Conclave reputation points away from the PvP slaughter. According to Digital Extremes, the inspiration for this new, yet to be defined mode, partly comes from Rocket League. This suggests a fun competition ahead.
…and the new Prime Warframe is…?
On Thursday, the developer released the first teaser image of the next Prime Access announced for late Spring. Unfortunately, you could already read in the URL who it will be. Vauban, possibly the hardest character to obtain (as his individual parts are only available through alerts), will be added to the ranks of the Primes.
Additionally, the hammer Fragor and, after several image comparisons by the author, the dual pistol Aksomati will be added as Prime weapons. For completeness, it should be mentioned that the latter could also refer to the Akstiletto. Those who want to guess can take a look at the highlight trailer at the end of the article.
Focus with Extra Equipment
Furthermore, a preview of a new enemy type of the Sentient has been provided, the Exosuit Sentient. This will only be combatable using new additions to the existing focus system.
Furthermore, a new type of weapon will be introduced to the game. This extremely powerful space ninja toy will, when equipped, replace an arm of your Warframe. Adam Jensen from Deus Ex says hello from afar.
Event with Duel Arena
A preview of the next event was also provided. Here, you will be contacted by the Grineer of the Steel Meridian Syndicate to capture defectors and hold them accountable in an arena. But beware: If you achieve some victories here, your own syndicate will contact you and advise you to no longer support Steel Meridian.
This is intended to highlight the presence of the syndicates within the Warframe universe and their different and opposing views.
Warframe Veterans Listen Up
If you are among the long-standing space dwellers who have been through everything since the beginning, or simply those who sorely miss a challenge and corresponding rewards, it should be noted that the overhaul of the star chart has something to do with it again.
If you have unlocked all nodes, there will be a few among them where you can determine the difficulty yourself and thus also receive better loot.
The War Within
As a grand finale and conclusion of the Pax East Warframe podium, a teaser trailer titled “The War Within” was shown. Or better said, it should have been for the online viewers, if the internet hadn’t quit on site. However, those who missed it can catch it in the highlight trailer below.
This trailer is the first announcement of the next major expansion, which is said to revolve around the Grineer queens. So far, they have only been mentioned in various stories but never shown.
For some time now, longer poems revolving around the two heads have been progressively unlockable within the game. This is done through the scannable, hidden Kuria in many level environments and requires patience, time, and endurance. Qualities that a true space ninja embodies.
What are you most looking forward to? Or do the announcements leave you as cold as space?
