Electronic Arts and Dice have been working on a Virtual Reality version of the online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront for some time.
Now, a first teaser for this version was shown at E3. In the video, the player sits in the cockpit of an X-Wing fighter and looks around freely. You fly under a rebel cruiser while other X-Wings zoom past you. Finally, you turn and fly towards a Star Destroyer. As TIE Fighters rush towards the player and the first shots and explosions can be seen, the video comes to an end.

Into the Depths of Space with Virtual Reality
The PlayStation VR version of this special mission from Star Wars: Battlefront was presented. The video showcases very well where the journey is headed. Whether the Virtual Reality version of the shooter will include the complete game is still unclear. It is clear that it is at least a special VR mission that can be played with the headset. It is also interesting that it is a space mission. Because there were none in the main game. Apparently, the battles in space are at least finding their way into the game with the VR missions.
The X-Wing VR mission from Star Wars: Battlefront is expected to be released on October 13, as that is the day the PlayStation VR headset will also be launched. Additionally, the mission will be exclusive to PlayStation 4. So it cannot be played on PC with an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset. Whether it is only a temporary exclusivity is unclear. However, the video looks quite good and really makes you want to strap into the virtual cockpit of an X-Wing fighter and battle TIE Fighters.
Here you can watch the video directly – also pay attention to where the music from the trailer comes from…
