In the campaign of Call of Duty Vanguard, it is about the founding of the first special forces in World War II, among other things. The developers from Sledgehammer have drawn inspiration from historical soldiers for the members of the Vanguard unit.
One of them is Ljudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko, nicknamed “Lady Death,” portrayed in the game by the soldier Polina Petrova. She was one of the most famous snipers in World War II, with 309 confirmed kills, including 36 enemy snipers. In the video, we show you the story of Pavlichenko, as well as the inspirations for the other 3 members of the Vanguard unit.
Even though the story in CoD Vanguard is fictional and the characters are not directly taken from the historical figures, it is commendable that Sledgehammer references the female soldiers of the Soviet Union in the game. With all the male protagonists, it is quickly forgotten that women also fought and often sacrificed their lives.
