With Palworld, a new open-world RPG is coming to Steam that focuses on crafting and survival. The colorful creatures in the game are reminiscent of Pokémon. The latest trailer from the Future Game Show 2022 shows some curious scenes.
What’s so crazy about the trailer? The new gameplay first shows picturesque areas and small Pals. These are the cute creatures that remind of Pokémon. The music is also rather relaxing. But suddenly, crazy combat situations are displayed.
The Pals attack the player or are shot at by the player with machine guns. At second 21, even a penguin-like monster is put in the rocket launcher and fired at the enemies.
After that, the trailer constantly switches between the calm Pokémon atmosphere and action-packed shooter gameplay. At first glance, it really makes you crave for more.
The developers also stress that Palworld is more supposed to be a hardcore survival game like ARK or Conan Exiles than a cute Pokémon game.

What kind of game is this? In Palworld, you fight for your survival. To do this, you rely on firearms, building your own base, and also the Pals. The Pals can be tamed, collected, and bred, and they have various uses afterward:
- They serve as mounts, workers on the farm
- They can be used as weapons or as shields against attacks
- There should even be the possibility to slaughter your own Pals to eat them. According to the official description of the game, this is supposedly “illegal”, whatever that may mean in this crazy world.
Otherwise, the game relies on the usual RPG elements like character progression, exploration, dungeons, or crafting. You can build your own world solo or interact cooperatively with other players.
When is Palworld coming out? The developers state that the release date is set for 2022 on Steam. So far, it doesn’t get more specific. Palworld is initially only supposed to be released for PC.
