During the event stream “Nintendo Direct,” there were many new announcements for the Nintendo Switch. Among them was Fae Farm, a cute farm sim with RPG elements. The release is slated for spring 2023. MeinMMO briefly presents the first information.
Even the first 30 seconds of the new co-op game Fae Farm make it clear what to expect:
- Countless trees to chop down
- Endless hacking of bushes
- Thirsty plants screaming for water
- Countless minerals to mine
- Fishing trips for the patient
What at first glance seems like a lot of work or a poorly booked adventure vacation on a farm in the depths of Brandenburg is actually the building blocks for some of the most successful games on the market.
At the forefront is Minecraft. The blocky adventure offers you almost endless creative possibilities in exchange for your work.
Also performing well is Stardew Valley – here you earn money and progress through your work, which also indirectly affects your relationship with the lovable villagers. However, there are significantly more “rules” than in Minecraft and a storyline that can be followed.
The new Fae Farm leans more towards the latter and already shows in the announcement trailer how much it has in common with the indie hit Stardew Valley:
- You build a farm
- Set up your place nicely
- Make friends among the town residents
- Explore the surroundings
- Investigate secrets
Stardew Valley has gained many fans with its gameplay mechanics, and Fae Farm wants to ride that wave. However, it aims to be more than just a pure clone of the original. Therefore, Fae Farm adds some mechanics, attempts a different graphic style, and fully focuses on co-op from the start:
- 3D graphics reminiscent of Animal Crossing
- 4-player co-op
- Magical world invites adventures
- Magic can help you with many things
- Jump’n’Run elements
