For years, there have been Minecraft in two editions – Java and Bedrock. The new trailer shows how the versions are coming closer together.
Minecraft is divided into two editions – Java and Bedrock. Java is exclusively for PC, while the Bedrock Edition was developed for consoles and is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, mobile, and PC.
Until yesterday, you had to purchase both editions separately. If you had the Java Edition on your PC but wanted to play with your friends who play on the Switch, you had to buy the Bedrock Edition additionally. That is exactly what is changing now.
Starting from June 7th, both versions will only be available to buy in one pack. This is also presented to us by the new trailer.
I already purchased the Java Edition or Bedrock Edition. What does the change mean for me? If you already own one of the editions, you will get the other one for free. However, you should definitely convert your Mojang account to a Microsoft account before that.
I have already purchased both editions. What does this mean for me? Minecraft is preparing a special surprise for players who purchased both editions before the change. This way, no one will miss out. More information about the gift will be announced soon.
Otherwise, both editions will still remain separate games, but you will no longer have to buy them twice.
Do you think the change is good?
