The development studio Creative Assembly is known for the development of the horror game Alien: Isolation. Now the studio has introduced a new shooter in the announcement trailer called HYENAS, which looks completely insane. See for yourself:
What do we see in the trailer? The trailer is a mixture of completely crazy scenes. For example, we see…
- cars left standing that lift off almost weightlessly, while a man who appears to be in a chase runs between the vehicles. (Minute 00:20)
- a woman creating a bridge of a foam-like substance with some kind of rifle to cross an abyss. (Minute 00:34)
- a man hitting someone else in the face with a stuffed teddy bear. (Minute 00:51)
What is HYENAS about? In the story of HYENAS, Earth no longer exists. The wealthy live on Mars, and the rest of humanity lives in orbit.
The HYENAS – to which the players belong – are thieves in this fictional reality, wanting to take from the rich what is most important to them: artifacts of pop culture.
According to the description on Steam, among the collectibles you are supposed to steal will be classic fan items. In the trailer you can see a Sonic figure and a Rubik’s Cube (from minute 01:04).
What is HYENAS? HYENAS is a multiplayer shooter developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA. On Steam, the crazy title is marked as “Online PvP”. However, since it is your task to steal collectibles, PvE battles are also conceivable.
Additionally, at the end of the trailer, the word “Escape” appears, making it conceivable that you must escape following a successful theft. In that case, HYENAS would belong to the new video game genre ‘EFT-Likes’ (alternatively: Extraction shooter).
All about a release on Steam, PS5 and Xbox
What do we know about the release? At this current time, HYENAS does not have a planned release date. However, it is known that the crazy shooter will be released on Windows PCs via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Mobile or Nintendo Switch players seem to be out of luck.
