The next installment of the “Final Fantasy” series has received a hefty trailer. Over 4 minutes of story and a lot of action are on display.
Fans of the “Final Fantasy” series often have to wait quite a long time for the release of a new installment of the RPG series. After “Final Fantasy XV” was released 6 years ago, players are eager for a new standalone entry in the series.
It has long been known that Final Fantasy XVI is in development; initial teasers whetted the appetite for more. Now the developers have released a trailer nearly 5 minutes long, showcasing much more of the game, primarily focusing on the “World Building”.
The ingredients seem to be those that have made Final Fantasy great over the past decades. There are several warring kingdoms, a world that is dying, and several factions trying to make the most of the remaining habitable world. Of course, there is also plenty of magic and the ability to summon great monsters – including Ifrit, Shiva, or Garuda, which players may already know from other games.
All of this promises to be a rather “classic” but also quite dark Final Fantasy epic that fans have been waiting for a long time. For the game does not seem to shy away from blood or even decapitations – something that was rather rare in previous installments.
There is still no specific release date, but the trailer promises “Summer 2023” – sometime between July 2023 and September 2023. FF fans will have to wait just under a year, unless there is a delay.
Since the team behind Final Fantasy XIV is behind the game, fans are full of hope.
