What exactly did the user do? The user explained back then on X.com that he instructed ChatGPT to make as much money as possible from 100 US dollars. He set two restrictions for the AI: no illegal tasks and no physical labor. His prompt to the AI:
You have 100 US dollars and your goal is to make as much money as possible in the shortest time without doing anything illegal. I will do everything you say and will keep you updated on your account balance. No physical labor.
Here were his following steps: In the first step, ChatGPT suggested that the user should acquire a website domain name for about 10 US dollars and a hosting plan for 5 US dollars per month. In the second step, the program suggested that he should use the remaining 85 US dollars for the design of the website and content.
In the next step, he was to build a website offering eco-friendly and sustainable products. The chatbot instructed him to create an affiliate website that promoted products for sales commissions. The next step was to utilize social media and run advertisements. With DALL-E 2, he also created a logo for the company and designed images of products.
Afterwards, he joined a partner program to sell reusable metal straws without having to purchase them in advance. Finally, the user shared in an update on X.com that his new company had earned 1,378.84 dollars and was valued at 25,000 dollars in mid-March 2023.
The exciting part: Until that point, the website contained no real products and was otherwise more of a demo site.
Closure of the company and reflection after 2 years on the situation
This is how the story ended: A few months later, it was already the end: After several general posts on websites and on the brand’s social networks, as well as demands from investors for information on how the invested money was used, Green Gadget Guru was closed after only a few months of operation.
He announced that he would step back from Green Gadget Guru and concentrate on building his Discord community. While the website at the time of its operation contained no products but only placeholder text, it is now completely shut down.
