For the sandbox MMORPG Albion Online, the update “Joseph” is now live. The first major content update since launch brings 5vs5 PvP arenas, gameplay adjustments, and two new expeditions. In the arena, the matchmaking causes discontent among some players.

The latest update for Albion Online is called “Joseph” and for the first time since the launch of the sandbox MMO, new content is being brought into the game. This includes a new arena for 5vs5 battles as well as two new expeditions. However, the arena may not always be fair due to somewhat unrefined matchmaking.

5vs5 PvP Arena with new loot

The highlight of update Joseph is the new arena. There you can engage in 5vs5 PvP battles. The goal is not just to slaughter enemy characters but to conquer the three runestones in the arena and hold them for as long as possible.

In this way, you can continuously earn victory points. If you have enough of them before the enemy does, you win and receive arena tokens. With these, you can then purchase new loot, including a saber-toothed tiger mount!

Matchmaking not always optimal

However, the competition for the tokens is quite frustrating for many players. This is because the matchmaking allows fights between pre-organized groups and purely random teams. As a result, some players feel disadvantaged when they register solo for the arena without a guild or group and are often farmed by better-organized teams.

On the other hand, the current method has the advantage of a large player pool available for the rounds. Some players on Reddit view the situation more casually. If the opponent is better organized, you just have to play more effectively. It’s an additional challenge!

2 new expeditions, treasure locations & new skills

The Joseph update also brings additional features:

• Expedition “Three Sisters”: The search for a missing guard takes you to a sinister place where three sisters from Morgana’s retinue await you.
• Expedition “The Eternal Battle”: You are to prepare an abandoned city for resettlement. Unfortunately, a horde of undead is loitering there, engaging in an eternal battle.
• For treasure seekers, there are new treasure locations. These spawn regularly, and those who challenge the ghost guardians can score even more loot.
• There are 5 new skills as well as improved animations for old abilities
