In Fortnite: Battle Royale is getting Patch 9.41 today on the servers of the platforms PC/Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS, Android. What we know so far about the update, when it will come, and whether there will be downtime can be found here.
Update: The patch has now been deployed and here are the German patch notes.
When will the patch arrive? Update 9.41 is scheduled to hit the Fortnite servers at 2:00 PM our time, according to Epic.
When does downtime start? Not at all. According to a Twitter announcement from Epic Games, there will be no downtime for Update 9.41. So it is probably just – and also visible from the version number – a small content patch for the overarching Update 9.40.
The contents of Update 9.41 – Weird new sniper rifle?
What could be in Update 9.41? 9.41 will certainly not offer groundbreaking innovations, but at least one new item will come. The already leaked “Storm Scout Rifle” is expected to be patched into the game.
The new weapon is supposed to appear in epic and legendary varieties and cause rather meager damage of 81 and 85 points respectively. However, the weapon is said to have the capability to somehow predict the storm movement.
How useful the weapon will actually be and whether it will truly bring more tactical depth to the game remains to be seen.
Which weapon could be vaulted? Since a new sniper rifle is coming, it could potentially vault a sniper from the pool. Many hope that it will be the Heavy Sniper.
The weapon is considered no fun for viewers given the upcoming World Cup, as snipers can secure instant kills from long distances by camping.
What else could come? Additionally, there are likely to be various bug fixes – including for creative mode and Fortnite on iOS – along with adjustments and new heroes and weapons for PvE. And surely the files for new cosmetics and the upcoming big event with the orb at Loot Lake will be set up in the game’s code.
Here, diligent data miners are expected to provide new information throughout the day after the patch goes live.
