Corepunk is a new MMORPG that aims to mix League of Legends and WoW. The developers of the game are based in Amsterdam and Kyiv. Due to the conflict in Ukraine, they have now moved to Athens. However, some employees have remained in Ukraine.
How is the studio dealing with the current situation? In a statement on their website, the developers announced that work on Corepunk is still ongoing. Beta tests for the MMORPG are expected to take place in the first half of 2022.
However, the Ukraine conflict has not left them unscathed. Artificial Core is the studio behind Corepunk and also the publisher. They have a headquarters in Amsterdam, but the main development of the game is taking place in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The studio relocated its headquarters from Kyiv to Athens, Greece, back in January as a precaution due to the impending conflict.
However, some employees of Corepunk wanted to stay in Ukraine and participate in the development of the MMORPG from there. They have since lost contact with two employees.

What is the current situation for the studio? Most developers are said to be working outside Ukraine, in the Netherlands and Greece. Some are also working from home in Norway, Poland, Romania, and Austria.

Unfortunately, we have lost contact with two team members who are in areas currently being heavily bombarded. In these areas, there are regular street fights and no mobile reception. We are still trying to reach them and offer any assistance possible.

They also report that many employees have friends and family members in Ukraine. Under these conditions, it is said to be difficult to focus on work, even when sitting in offices in other countries.
In conclusion, the developers apologize for having been silent for so long. They had been in a kind of emergency mode.
Nevertheless, work on Corepunk is to continue as planned as much as possible. The developers have not yet reported the exact impact of the situation on the original release plans and beta tests.

Corepunk is a new MMORPG in isometric perspective
What exactly is Corepunk? The MMORPG will be a mixture of LoL and WoW. You choose one of 6 different classes, which in the endgame provide a total of 18 different specializations. With this character, you will explore an open world in isometric perspective.
- There are 4 gathering and 4 crafting professions
- The dungeons are said to be as complex as Mythic+ in WoW, although there will be no dungeon finder
- Mounts are tied to a certain level and a lot of in-game currency like in WoW Classic
- PvP is expected to take place in the open world and in special arenas
It is currently unclear whether there will be separate PvE and PvP servers. The focus of the game is actually on open-world PvP, but the developers are discussing the possibility of introducing pure PvE servers.
When will Corepunk be released? The release was announced for the end of 2021, but the developers could not meet that date. Instead, a large beta test is expected in spring 2022.
Although the developers have not yet officially postponed this test, many in the community assume that they will not be able to start working on the MMORPG until the summer at the earliest.
