The successful German Twitch streamer Killian “TANZVERBOT” Heinrich (26) addressed his fans in a video. Despite his successful career on Twitch and YouTube, he has squandered all his money in the last year and a half trying to keep up with wealthy acquaintances. Due to tax debts, he is now broke and feels ashamed.
Why is TANZVERBOT in debt now?
- The 26-year-old streamer says in a video from 13.11. (via youtube), he started to socialize in “wealthy circles” about 18 months ago and fell into a shopping addiction. He suddenly began purchasing brand clothing up to 5 times a week, such as T-shirts from the brand “Balenciaga” for €400. With that, he tried to compensate for his inferiority complex.
- In the process, he bought the shirts one size smaller because he intended to lose weight, but instead gained 6 kilograms since then. He stayed in “€1,000 a night” hotels and could never say “no” to invitations from his acquaintances because he found it too embarrassing.
- Additionally, he lost money in stocks and cryptocurrencies, streamed a lot less, and worked as an influencer, hardly accepting any deals, and ended up in financial ruin when tax payments became due:
Overall probably 2.5 million followers on all platforms and now I stand here and tell you that I have tax debts. How can one be so stupid with finances? Meanwhile, others are buying houses, man. 400 square meters easily. […] But what did I do? I was freaking addicted to shopping. Nice that I now have 250 T-shirts at home, half of which don’t fit because I always bought ‘a size smaller’ because I thought: “Whoa, cool. I’ll lose weight anyway, then I can wear that nicely.” Yeah, that hasn’t worked until today. I’ve gained 6 kilos since then.
The successful Twitch streamer and web video producer Tanzverbot has been struggling with a difficult past for quite some time. He was considered a German success story on Twitch, who “fought his way up from the bottom.” TANZVERBOT is appreciated by his fans primarily for his authentic behavior and down-to-earth opinions:
Zoom call with the tax advisor makes the streamer realize he’s in debt
This particularly annoys him: TANZVERBOT struggles with the fact that he should have known better. In his Twitch streams, he recently dealt with the Fortnite streamer Simex, who fell into debt after a successful YouTube career because Simex had failed to set aside money for the taxes due:
It happened to TANZVERBOT as well, who had his eyes opened during a Zoom call with his tax advisor. Although he had many expenses in the last tax year and was explicitly praised by the tax advisor for that because so much could be deducted, he was completely shocked at the amount of tax repayment he still had to make.
When he then learned that he would have to make advance payments for the next tax year again, his disastrous financial situation became clear to him.
I paid a lot in advance and thought to myself: Yeah, that’s – what do I know – a few thousand euros that I still have to pay, […] Then we go down, “amount due” [leans back in the chair and pretends to collapse with death rattles]. I just sat there in front of the PC.
The corresponding segment in which Tanzverbot simulates the collapse begins at 5:47 minutes:
What will happen next? The 26-year-old streamer says he is in debt, but sees his future stronger on the internet again, as that’s where he comes from, that made him successful and freed him from isolation.
“Now that I have no money anymore, I realize: Now I feel embarrassed again.”
TANZVERBOT says: He’s in trouble, but he believes that over time he can fight his way out of debt.
What the hell are these T-shirts that are so expensive? The Parisian fashion brand “Balenciaga,” which TANZVERBOT explicitly mentions, offers “fashion in the upper price segment” and is one of the “leading fashion companies in Paris.”
A glance at the brand’s sales page reveals that shirts for €400 were still a bargain:

It’s bitter that the German streamer Trymacs warned young colleagues just a few days ago not to fall into the tax trap that TANZVERBOT has now fallen into. Trymacs addressed young streamers around 20 like LetsHugo in a video and said it should now be clear to everyone how much money to set aside for taxes.
That it could happen to an established and “grown-up” streamer like TANZVERBOT, however, was probably not even suspected by Trymacs.
