In Fortnite Chapter 2, there is a new feature that allows players to fish for loot that has been dropped. Twitch streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney demonstrates how important and helpful this feature can be in combat.
What is this feature? With the new Chapter 2, fishing was introduced in Fortnite. Players can fish for items such as weapons, healing items, and ammunition from the water if they have a fishing rod in their inventory.
You can even fish for a mythical fish if you’re lucky.
After the latest Update 11.10.1, you can now also fish for items that are on the ground and not just in the water.
Twitch streamer Tfue now shows how important this change can be when fishing. What previously seemed like a gimmick can now decide matches with the patch.
Tfue shows how powerful fishing is in Fortnite
What happened? The streamer was currently in a match of the Fortnite Champion Series with his team. He had run out of materials to build. Building is extremely important at this level. If you can no longer build, you lack protection and are as good as dead in the endgame.
Tfue then used the fishing feature to grab the loot from an opponent who had died. He cast his fishing rod and fished the loot up to him. With this method, he was even able to snag 550 metal.
After the helpful acquisition, he said to his team: “I have the maximum amount of metal, come to me!” They were then able to share the materials among themselves.
How does this new fishing method work?
How can you fish for items on the ground? After the latest update, the fishing feature has been improved, and you can now also fish for items outside of water. You just need to align the fishing rod with the loot and pull it in.
This is especially helpful when:
- You want to fish for loot from opponents outside the zone
- You need more materials from a height in the endgame
- You are hiding to heal and spot a healing item in the distance that you urgently need
From what height is fishing still possible? Player CardboardMechanic posted a video showing from what height fishing is still possible.
He built up 37 structures high and fished from that height. He was even able to catch a fish while doing so. So it is evident that you can still use the feature from higher elevations.
What do you think of this method? Will you use the fishing rod more often now?
