A Twitch streamer took on a long-term challenge in Minecraft. He wanted to reach the Far Lands
without using cheats or mods. After over 14 years, he succeeded and did a lot of good along the way.
What is this special place? The Far Lands
are a location in Minecraft, far from your spawn point, approximately between 12,550,821 and 12,550,824 blocks away. At this point, the game’s procedural generation begins to fail. Massive wall formations and chasms appear, which cannot be found elsewhere in the world.
Even far before reaching the area, the game starts to lag and stutter, making the journey more difficult. As we reported in September, there is YouTuber and Twitch streamer kurtjmac, who has been trying to reach the Far Lands since March 2011.
Through his YouTube videos and Twitch streams, he raises funds for charitable causes. Among them are organizations like Child’s Play, Direct Relief, or the Progressive Animal Welfare Society. After over 14 years, he finally succeeded in reaching the Far Lands

Celebratory Discovery
How did the finale of his journey go? On October 4, 2025, KurtJMac once again streamed a new episode of his journey live on Twitch. Together with his tamed wolf, he reached the Far Lands
during the stream. After nearly 5.5 hours of swimming, while experiencing considerable lag, he found the gigantic structure of rock formations.
His chat congratulated the streamer and YouTuber and celebrated him with various donations, subs, and gift subs. He continued to explore the rock formations and placed a sign among the formations to commemorate the day with the words: Here Farlanders’ first step in the Far Lands. October 4, 2025.
How difficult is it to reach the Far Lands? As one can see from kurtjmac’s example, it is practically impossible for a regular player to reach the Far Lands. Without mods and cheats, one must move monotonously in one direction while being careful not to die and get reset. Thus, likely no one will be able to replicate this incredible success anytime soon. After all, he also holds the world record for the longest journey in Minecraft (via GameStar).
