Jens “Knossi” Knossalla is a German entertainer and is successful as a streamer on Twitch. His mother Ida is often involved as well. In a recent stream, the 38-year-old was suddenly confronted with a racist remark – and acted quickly.
What was the situation? Jens “Knossi” Knossalla is one of the biggest entertainers on German Twitch. However, what remained memorable at the end of a recent stream was not the somewhat bizarre content, but a remark made by the streamer’s mother.
“Mama Knossalla” used the racist “N-word” in connection with a euphemism for a bodily function. For the same remark, a reality star has reportedly just been kicked off her new show, as Focus reported.
Ida Knossalla is usually a welcome guest in her son’s streams, but this remark caused outrage for the Twitch streamer himself, who reacted immediately.
Knossi reacts promptly
What was the immediate reaction? The visibly shocked Knossi interrupted his mother immediately and hurried to assure that this had nothing to do with him: He distanced himself from the remark and did not know where his mother could have picked up the “stupid comment”.
Ida Knossalla also apologized for her choice of words. The stream excerpt was heatedly discussed online. In the Subreddit Laesterschwestern, which mainly deals with the German influencer scene, a thread on the topic reached 250 comments. Opinions on this matter vary widely:
- Overall, Knossi’s reaction is received positively; he responded quickly and well. He showed clear boundaries and did not contribute to the normalization of racist language.
- Others find Knossi’s apology insincere. They accuse him of intervening only out of fear for his Twitch channel and reputation.
- The apology from “Mama Knossalla” is also viewed with mixed feelings: Some believe the woman should be left alone, as she was on the verge of tears. Others believe they see her struggling to hold back laughter and only giving a pro forma apology.
What is the current development? As one user noticed shortly afterward, the video has now disappeared from Reddit. The moderation team of Laesterschwestern explains that they received a copyright complaint. They want to preemptively remove the post to avoid deletion by Reddit.
The moderators emphasize that they do not want to stifle discussions. Therefore, further posts on the topic should also be left standing
Also on TikTok and X, where the video was still available for a bit longer, it has now disappeared. It is not known whether there is a copyright complaint here as well, or if the videos were removed due to the uncensored use of the N-word.
The deletion of the video has triggered discussions again: Some find it okay, as Knossi is just protecting his mother, who is not as much a public figure as he is. Others see it as an attempt to stifle a discussion.
