Twitch streamer Erik “Gronkh” Range was a guest on the podcast Henke’s Corner and explains why he sees himself as a bad influencer. He is not very active on other social platforms and rarely posts.
Why does Gronkh refer to himself like that? As a guest on the Henke’s Corner podcast, Twitch streamer Gronkh talked about his influencer life. He referred to himself as the “worst influencer in the world” (Source: YouTube from minute 32:38).
The activities of an influencer also include regularly posting on social platforms. However, Gronkh hardly does any social media, as he says. He posts almost nothing anymore on popular platforms like Instagram or X.
If he were to start regularly posting on Instagram again, Gronkh says he would change his “concept”. He would not just post the beautiful “glossy photos”, but rather everyday things in unpolished presentation.
“Everything gets worse”
Why would Gronkh prefer a forum? Gronkh further explains that he would prefer a forum. There, people would register who are really interested in a topic and want to discuss it. Forums were more “closed” and “private”, according to Gronkh, because the people interested in a topic were among themselves.
Regarding current social media, Gronkh also says: “I find social media so shitty. Everything has become so crappy. (…) Wherever there are algorithms involved, everything gets worse. Everything feels more fucked up.” (Source: YouTube from minute 33:07).
On Reddit, the Twitch streamer says he spends a lot of time. On X, Gronkh only looks at the posts and content of people he follows. These include indie developers or pixel artists, for example.
However, on the platform Twitch, his activity looks quite different. Streaming for “only” 4 hours straight would not be feasible for Gronkh. Instead, he prefers to stream for 7 to 8 hours.
The podcast episode of Henke’s Corner with Gronkh was so long that it had to be split into two parts. In the first part, Gronkh talked about his time before he was a Twitch streamer: Gronkh worked as a “silly stone troll” at a company before his career on Twitch, explaining where the name comes from.
