Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler is very successful on Twitch and YouTube, but sometimes causes discussions. There was quite a stir surrounding the soccer match Hamburger SV against Hertha BSC – before the game, Trymacs drew the ire of some fans with a ticket call.
Who is it about? Trymacs is one of the most successful Twitch streamers ever. The 27-year-old is active in all possible categories: from Clash of Clans to GTA Online RP to opening Pokémon card packs, it’s all there.
Trymacs finds many fans with his easygoing nature, but also has his critics – for example, because he poured a ton of money into FIFA packs.
In terms of events, Trymacs is also in demand. For example, he boxed against his fellow streamer MckyTV, which attracted many viewers, but also resulted in a wrist injury. In addition, he plans to assemble his own soccer team this summer.
However, during another event, some fans did not want to see him: the relegation match to the Bundesliga between Hamburger SV and Hertha BSC.
Ticket call brings trouble – big discussion about stadium visit
What was the problem? Before the second leg Hamburger SV against Hertha BSC, Trymacs called out that he wanted to buy tickets for the game – and offered 400 euros per piece. He also wanted to make a VLOG from the stadium.
This, however, did not sit well with some fans: there was some harsh criticism on social media from soccer fans regarding the call.
Offering so much money for tickets fuels the black market and would take away the chance for real fans to get into the stadium. Moreover, Trymacs, as a content creator, who is not really there for the game but only for the video, is considered out of place.
Why was this game so important? The game was crucial for HSV regarding promotion to the Bundesliga, while Hertha BSC aimed to avoid relegation to the 2nd league – so it was an incredibly important game. As a fan, this is one of those matches you tell stories about for years.
Accordingly, the demand for tickets is high – and it easily happens that tickets are offered at exorbitant prices. A suitable comparison might be the problem with PS5 scalpers, who secure numerous consoles to make a profit while “normal” consumers are left empty-handed.
Even in soccer, the potential of such a situation is comparable, especially for such important games – if not even a bit stronger, because many soccer fans are extremely emotionally attached to their club. Additionally, some differentiate between “true fans” and “event visitors” – that is, people who are wholeheartedly there and those who come just as a means to an end.
It doesn’t sit well when someone publicly offers a lot of money to still get tickets.
This is how Trymacs reacted: Trymacs addressed the issue in two videos on YouTube – in both, he mentions a “shitstorm” from HSV fans.
Many fans are “really angry”, he shares, and shows tweets where, for instance, the hashtag “Against Influencers in the Stadium” is used. It is mentioned that Trymacs is not welcome in the stadium, which sometimes leads to very heated discussions.
Trymacs himself commented that he used to often attend HSV summer camps, even had a season ticket, and followed HSV’s promotion fight: “And now I’m banned from the stadium because I’m a YouTuber,” says Trymacs (via YouTube).
He compares this to other matters where he has experienced something similar. The first time with Minecraft, Minecraft fans were upset, with GTA RP some GTA fans were mad, and some people think he shouldn’t box: “I want to play FIFA for the first time, I get a FIFA ban because someone has been playing FIFA since 2004. It’s the same in every game.”
He didn’t expect such anger with soccer. He does enjoy provoking people sometimes, but this time he didn’t want that at all.
This is how viewers react: In the YouTube comments, opinions from both sides can be found. Some think it’s good that Trymacs wants to go to the stadium – and also support the VLOG. That way they can at least experience some of the atmosphere if they can’t be there themselves. HSV fans also chime in, stating that they can’t share the hate, especially since he has had connections with HSV.
“Hello Max, I’m an HSV fan and was also there in Berlin, sadly I didn’t get tickets for our home game, it happens, we could have filled the stadium four times. I understand both sides and everyone should try to empathize, of course it has added value if Max comes to the stadium and makes a vlog, it’s cooler content. I believe the Ultras just want to create the coolest atmosphere possible in the stadium. And the likelihood that you will yell along at every chant is significantly lower than with other fans. That’s just how it is, I didn’t get a ticket either, but wish you a lot of fun in Volkspark💙🤍🖤

Others feel that influencers shouldn’t be there when they have nothing to do with the club because there are many fans who feel so much more. Just the fact of going to such a “deciding game” but not before does not sit well.
This is how it all ended
Ultimately, Trymacs managed to attend the game despite the criticism and recorded it as promised in the VLOG:
Together with MckyTV and his brother, Trymacs visited the Hamburger Volksparkstadion to watch the game live and take in some fan atmosphere.
At the very beginning of the video, he addresses the controversy once again:
People were discussing passionately; you can see that here as well. I’ve never split people so much. Many are really excited that I’m making a VLOG, they want photos with me. It’s ultra cool. The others keep shouting “son of a whore” and throwing trash. That’s definitely the contrast.
How did it go with the tickets? In the video, Trymacs explains that he ultimately did not buy any tickets – instead, he got them through a contact, which is why Micky is also there. “It was a fail that I said I wanted to buy expensive tickets,” he notes.
In the video, it can be seen how Trymacs walks through the stadium, interacts with fans, downs a beer or two, and ultimately stands in the stands.
During the game, the streamer was hopeful that HSV would still manage to get promoted to the Bundesliga despite being behind. In the end, however, it did not work out – Hertha BSC won the game and maintained their status.
In the realm of gaming, soccer often comes up – through FIFA, but also in other contexts: for example, a football coach played so much Football Manager that it helped his career.
