A Pokémon player has taken on the tricky Randomizer Challenge “Kaizo IronMon” live on Twitch and successfully completed it after 1,786 attempts.
The streamer SmallAnt continued his playthrough of Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen on Twitch on November 15, tying in at 1,701 previous attempts. In the seven hours he streamed, he needed an additional 85 attempts to finish the game under the special rules of the challenge.
After a total of 1,786 attempts, he finally crowned himself the new “League Champion”.

Why did it take him so long? SmallAnt needed a total of 1,786 attempts to finish Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen as League Champion with the “Kaizo IronMon+” Challenge. He streamed this live on Twitch in several streams. According to the media library, he started the challenge on September 14.
At the beginning of the stream on November 15, he says he is excited. He explains to the viewers, who are not in the loop yet, that he is doing a challenge in which everything is “randomized.” If his Pokémon faints, he must also restart the game from the beginning.
During his 7-hour stream, he managed to finish the game with the Randomizer Challenge (via Twitch including Time-Stamp). Here you can see his contribution on X about it.
There he writes: “After 1786 attempts I finally completed the ‘hardest’ Pokémon challenge. Kaizo IronMon is done.”
What kind of challenge is this? “Kaizo IronMon” is a Randomizer Challenge that aims to make playing with a Randomizer both entertaining and challenging (via GitHub). It eliminates the grinding of wild Pokémon, focusing solely on completing the game under special rules.
The challenge was originally created for Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen but can also be applied to other games. To use a Randomizer in the game, various programs are necessary (via wikihow.com).
These are the rules of the “Kaizo IronMon” Challenge:
A few rules of the challenge summarized:
- All Pokémon, movesets, and items are selected randomly, the levels of Trainer Pokémon and wild Pokémon are raised by 50 %.
- The starter Pokémon is chosen randomly without looking at the options.
- As soon as a Pokémon faints, it is released/boxed without exception.
- If all Pokémon in the party faint, the run is over, and the game must be restarted.
- No resets are allowed before the first battle if you do not like the starter Pokémon. After that, it is fine.
- At the beginning of the journey, you must talk to MOM; anything else would be rude.
The “Kaizo IronMon+” Challenge includes a few differences:
- In the original challenge, held items are prohibited to make it more difficult. In KI+, players are allowed to have their Pokémon hold items, giving them bonuses or healing.
- The original challenge only allows players to teach TMs (Technical Machines that teach moves) if earned from Gym Leaders. Here, TM compatibility is set to “full.”
- In KI+, legendary Pokémon are permitted if their total stats do not exceed 600.
- Any starter Pokémon may be chosen.
- Perish Song is a move that initiates a countdown, causing the affected Pokémon to be knocked out in three turns. This can be avoided by switching out the Pokémon – which is generally not allowed in the context of the challenge. In KI+, switching is allowed if affected by the move.
