A Twitch streamer enjoyed Space Marine 2 when he realized that the Tyranid swarms in the distance were real enemies.
What game is it? The streamer played Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which is an upcoming third-person shooter set in the “Warhammer 40,000” universe.
- Space Marine 2 is the successor to the first installment, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, released in 2011, and will be released on September 9, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
- The game will include a co-op campaign, a 6v6 multiplayer mode, and the PvE mode “Operations.”
- You play as the legendary Space Marines, who crush alien Tyranids with superhuman abilities.
Some content creators and press representatives had the opportunity to play Space Marine 2 before the official release, including Twitch streamer “PatStaresAt,” who streamed the co-op shooter on Twitch on September 4.
Massive swarm turns out to be real enemies
What happened to the streamer? While “PatStaresAt” was playing Space Marine 2 in the livestream, he reached a point in the prologue that initially made him admire the view. The streamer stood at a high point and could look into the distance. There, a large swarm of Tyranids was moving, which he observed and commented with a “oh okay.”
These predatory creatures, which partially resemble giant insects, were not part of the map design or just intended to convey the feeling of an impending enemy horde. No, they are real enemies.
As the massive swarm, estimated to be thousands of Tyranids, approached closer, the streamer realized this too. With a bewildered “Oh, they are real,” followed by an “oh shit,” he began to frantically shoot at the swarm.
You can watch the streamer’s clip on Twitch here:
The Tyranids soon climbed up to the streamer and attacked him in droves. He fought bravely and managed to escape into a video sequence after a few minutes of fighting. However, the battle continued afterward – after all, the game is just starting to pick up at that point.
We want to refrain from further details to avoid spoiling it for you.
Space Marine 2 was showcased by numerous streamers on September 4 and enjoyed by thousands of viewers. In the German-speaking area, Bonjwa, Staiy, our colleagues from GameStar, and MauriceWeber were among the biggest channels.
If you want to dive into the fight against Tyranid swarms like the various streamers, you can do so, but only in groups of 3 players. For larger squads, the Space Marines would simply be too powerful: Space Marine 2 only offers co-op for 3 players because 4 Space Marines would be ‘too much of a massacre’ in the Warhammer 40k universe.
