Who are Los Ratones? Twitch streamer Caedrel founded his own LoL team made up of well-known ex-professionals and other influencers in November 2024. This includes the unusual player TheBausffs. He himself acts as the coach and owner of the team. Caedrel also co-streams professional matches and provides live commentary on Twitch, not only for his own team’s matches.
Although the idea sounds crazy, Los Ratones is quite successful. In the regional league NLC, Los Ratones has been doing quite well from the start. They won the Winter and Spring playoffs, and they also took first place in both this year’s EMEA Masters, which is essentially the European Regionals Championship.
In September, the next tournament, the EMEA Masters Summer, starts, but there might not be a title defense as the dates overlap with this year’s Worlds.
One wants to take the chance in China
What is the problem with this year’s dates? The final of the EMEA Masters is supposed to take place on November 2 in Paris. The issue is that the Worlds have already started by then, and the semifinals are taking place on that day.
The Worlds are the most important esports event in LoL, and as a co-streamer, Caedrel also wants to participate there. In a clip (via Reddit), Caedrel expresses his frustration about the dates. He emphasizes that the Summer Split
takes place in November. Last year, the final of the EMEA Masters was on August 30.
During the stream, his player Rekkles (via x.com) wrote in the chat to simply skip the tournament and fly to South Korea. Caedrel responded that it could definitely work.
This way, Caedrel could not only cast the Worlds live in China, but Los Ratones would also have a good training opportunity, as they could train with other top teams in South Korea, and the solo queue level is higher than in Europe.
Furthermore, it would certainly be a great opportunity for content for Caedrel, but also for the players of Los Ratones.
What do the organizers of the EMEA Masters say about the criticism? On x.com, the tournament organizers responded to the criticism and assured that the final of the EMEA Masters will not take place at the same time as the Worlds semifinals.
