A type of content has brought Twitch streamer Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler significant success: opening packs in EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA). He insists that he no longer wants to bring this as content for his viewers.
What videos does Trymacs no longer want to make? Besides his passion for mobile games like Clash Royale and Clash of Clans, Trymacs used to stream the opening of packs in EA Sports FC, formerly known as FIFA.
The packs contained rare player and item cards that can provide an advantage in the corresponding mode. One can buy the packs with real money or in-game currency; however, it is not clear beforehand which cards are exactly in such a pack. It is pure luck what cards will be drawn in the end.
Trymacs’ reactions to drawing rare cards went viral around 2021. Videos he uploaded of it on YouTube reached high view counts. For example, a YouTube video on his channel where he opens packs from FIFA 22 was clicked over 1.8 million times.
He himself referred to these videos as “the most successful videos of the year” (Source: YouTube from minute 00:39).

Why doesn’t Trymacs want to open packs anymore? As early as 2022, Trymacs announced that he did not want to bring any more FIFA content. In a YouTube video, he mentioned that his videos encouraged imitation. Viewers were more inclined to invest a lot of money in the packs due to Trymacs’ intense reactions.
He also mentioned that the gambling mechanics of the packs could negatively influence the youth and children among his viewers.
Recently, the Twitch streamer commented on this topic again, as a viewer addressed him in his Twitch chat. Trymacs emphasized that he generally has nothing against pay-to-win.
However, the mechanics surrounding opening packs is something different: “As long as that doesn’t get better in FIFA with the packs, I’m not getting into it. (…) It’s too close to a casino, that’s why I’m out.” (Source: YouTube from minute 00:08). For the same reason, he never opened crates in the shooter Counter-Strike.
According to his own statements, Trymacs is not against pay-to-win mechanics. He is known for having invested a lot of money in mobile games like Clash Royale.
