This was surprisingly quick: The PvP-heavy MMORPG Trinium Wars only left Early Access this June, and now the end of the game has been announced.
Trinium Wars was distributed via Steam, but the game is no longer available there. On the community page, the developers explain that the MMO has been removed from the product lineup and that the servers will be shut down on August 31. With a heavy heart, they admit that Trinium Wars did not achieve the success they had hoped for.
The PvP MMORPG simply did not work
Trinium Wars placed great importance on PvP battles, especially on resource wars. However, there were not enough players for these essential elements to be truly enjoyable. Time and again, new players tried the MMO only to leave quickly because there simply weren’t enough players. During the Early Access phase, even some changes were made, and the distribution model was switched to free-to-play based on tester feedback. But even this didn’t help. The players stayed away.
Something new is coming…
Ultimately, Trinium Wars simply could not generate enough revenue, which is why they can no longer operate the game. However, they encourage the fans. Currently, the team is working on a new MMO that will offer many “hack ‘n slash” elements. More details about this game will be shared at a later date, but they state that anyone who purchased Trinium Wars in the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition will receive the new game for free. All other players of Trinium Wars can expect a discount.
They hope for the understanding of the fans of Trinium Wars and apologize for the chaos.
