Tree of Savior is postponing its Free2Play release. They want to first address the issues with some botters and exploiters.
Free2Play Release of Tree of Savior postponed to mid-May
Yesterday, we already reported that 3,000 accounts in Tree of Savior were banned for using bot programs or cheating through exploits to gain unfair advantages. Fixing this issue led to a whole chain of consequences, as the purchase price for the game was raised again. Now, another issue has emerged: the Free2Play release is delayed from the end of April to mid-May.
The problem was that the different packages of Tree of Savior were offered at different prices in various regions of the world, as Steam sets prices regionally. While in one country you might have paid around $50, in another country you only had to pay half. The TP, the premium currency acquired through purchase, could then be exchanged for nice items in the game, which could be sold to other players – players who spent “more money” on such a package were clearly at a disadvantage.
To prevent such issues from occurring in the future, Tree of Savior plans to open more regional servers and ban the cross-regional trade of affected items. This is precisely why the release is also postponed, as it must first be programmed and tested.
However, there is a silver lining: After initially reducing the prices of founder packs by 30%, and then raising them back to the full amount, there is now a new reduction: A hefty 50% discount is available on the purchase of a corresponding founder pack.
