Fans were hoping for a first glimpse of the last faction that is set to be included in the upcoming DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 – even for a release date. Instead, the developers are now announcing a delay.
We are talking about Tides of Torment: This is the latest DLC for the massive strategy game Total War: Warhammer 3. The expansion brings three new Legendary Commanders for Slaanesh, Norsca, and – as officially confirmed now – the High Elves.
However, the way the last faction was announced leaves fans feeling rather disappointed.

Long-awaited content is being delayed
How exactly did the announcement unfold? Instead of another Dev Chat in the form of a video, there is only a blog post, which contains bad news: The upcoming “Tides of Torment” DLC is being delayed.
- Originally, the DLC was supposed to be released in the summer, but now it is only said to be “later this year”
- The next Dev Chat is also delayed, players will have to wait until August for a first impression of the new content for the High Elves
This delay is particularly bitter, as fans have been waiting a long time for improvements for the High Elves and Norsca. These factions were supposed to be refreshed with the DLC. Additionally, Slaanesh is the only faction in the game that has just one playable faction – namely that of N’Kari.
The developers justify the delay by stating that the DLC does not yet meet their standards. They want to take the extra time to review the content and improve the gameplay experience.
In recent playtesting, we asked ourselves if this next DLC met the standards that we’ve set in recent releases, and the short answer was no. However, we know it can and so we want to spend more time working on it, reviewing the content, and improving the gameplay experiences that it’s set to bring.

These changes also mean that some of the information shared so far is no longer accurate. Which ones they are will be addressed by the developers in the Dev Chat. They understand the frustration and also apologize for not being more transparent.
Better sieges in July and more
However, the blog post also contains a lot of positive news:
- In July, the developers will launch a public test to improve the siege battles in the game – a long-requested update by the community.
- In August, there will be “Quality of Life” improvements for the Tomb Kings and the Lizardmen, and the skills of generic Greenskin characters will also be refreshed
- The last Legendary Commander of the “Tides of Torment” DLC is now officially confirmed: As expected, it is Sea Lord Aislinn for the High Elves
Additionally, smaller DLCs are hinted at. These would add characters that would not fit into the current DLC format. There are already hints as to who they want to bring into the game first through this route. The hints could refer to Neferata, a powerful vampire.
Next year, they also announce “one of the largest content packages ever for the trilogy”. However, what it will be about will only be revealed in December.
