The Fossil Research Day is approaching in Pokémon GO. With a bit of luck, you can catch 2 Shinies here.
What kind of event is this? The Research Day is an event where solving Field Research is the focus. The next Research Day will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
This time, Fossil Pokémon take center stage. 2 of them even have an increased chance of being caught as Shiny.
Fossil Research Day – All Event Content
Which Pokémon are there in the event? If you complete Field Research during the event, you can get Balgoras and Amarino. Both Pokémon have an increased Shiny chance, so you should complete as many Field Research tasks as possible if you are aiming for those two Shinies.
You can receive a Field Research at any PokéStop. If you want to get and complete as many as possible, you should try to visit as many different PokéStops as you can. Keep in mind that you can only receive 1 new Field Research if you don’t already have 3. Only after these have been completed or abandoned can you receive new ones.
Additionally, the following monsters may appear in the wild:
- Amonitas*
- Kabuto*
- Liliep*
- Anorith*
- Koknodon*
- Schilterus*
- Galapaflos* (rare)
- Flapteryx* (rare)
Also, the Pokémon marked with a * can appear as Shiny. However, unlike Balgoras and Amarino, the chance for them is not additionally increased.
Paid, limited-time research: For $1.99 (about 2 €), you can purchase a paid, limited-time research. This will provide you with additional encounters with Balgoras and Amarino when you complete Field Research.
If you get the research as a Hyper Ticket Box in the Pokémon GO webstore, you will also receive 3 Max Revives.
