The Basics – Decorating Your Ministry ID
Choosing a Name: First, download Harry Potter: Wizards Unite on Android or iOS.
When you start the game for the first time, you will enter a sort of tutorial. Here, you will learn the basics of the game.
In the process, you will set your player name. When you later add friends, they will see the name you choose here.
Choosing a Profile Picture: If you want, you can choose a profile picture for your Ministry ID. To start, tap the wizard symbol at the bottom left of the screen (the symbol displayed above your current level).
On the ID, you will find space for a photo at the top left. Tap this slot, and a new window will open. Here you can
- Filters
- Frames
- and Stickers
to enhance your profile picture. Once you are done, you have completed the key steps for your Ministry ID.
Careers in Wizards Unite – What should you choose?
When can you choose careers? The career choices will be unlocked when you reach level 6 in Wizards Unite.
What careers are available? You can choose between
- Auror
- Professor
- Magizoologist
What can the careers do?
- As an Auror, you are a fighter aimed at dealing damage. They are particularly effective against Dark Forces.
- As a Professor, you are a mix between a fighter and a supporter. There are strong spells and weaker healing spells. They are particularly effective against Oddities.
- Magizoologists specialize in supporting and withstanding damage. They are particularly effective against Beasts.
If you want, you can assign the careers to RPG roles. For Auror, that would be DPS, for Professors Wizard and for Magizoologists Healer.

Spells in Wizards Unite – How to cast effectively?
How to cast spells? To send the Found Items back and thus help the world, you should cast spells. Depending on the encounter, you will need to use different spells.
You use them by tracing the provided pattern on the screen as accurately as possible with your finger. Currently, there are 14 spells in Wizards Unite that have been discovered so far.
This is how spells work better: Spells are more effective the more accurately you trace them. Early players also suspect that speed plays a role. So try to trace the spells as quickly and accurately as possible.
A bar at the top of the screen then shows you how effectively the spell works.
Recharge and Use Spell Energy
What is spell energy? You need this resource to cast spells. At the beginning, there is a limit of a maximum of 75 spell energy that can be accumulated.
Where does spell energy come from? You can obtain this important resource in the game. Visiting inns and greenhouses generates energy. You can also earn it through challenges.
- From buildings, you get about 1-10 spell energy per visit – You can request that every 5 minutes per inn/greenhouse.
- Daily logins can reward you with spell energy.
- Achievements can partially reward you with spell energy.
Niantic has already increased the energy that players receive in Wizards Unite.

Why should you save? This energy is a valuable resource that you need on your adventures. Therefore, it is important to handle it carefully.
How to save spell energy?
- Concentrate on the pattern and stand still when casting spells. This way you will trace the pattern more accurately and ensure greater effectiveness, resulting in better success. If you cast spells more often, you will also consume more energy.
- Cast spells quickly! It is assumed that speed when casting affects effectiveness. So draw the pattern quickly.
- Use potions! The potions in Wizards Unite can enhance your spellcasting and thus increase the chance of success.

Brewing Potions in Wizards Unite – Master Notes
What are potions? These elixirs assist you in progressing in Wizards Unite. They can help in battles or bring you more experience points.
Brewing Potions: Select the suitcase symbol at the bottom center of your screen. Then tap on Potions on the left. Now select one of the empty slots and then navigate to the potion you want to brew. Once you have the ingredients together, tap Brew.
Master Notes: Depending on the recipe, brewing can take several hours. With the help of Master Notes, you can speed up the brewing by up to 15%.
Tap the brown spoon in the cauldron while brewing, and you can, similar to casting spells, draw gestures for the potions.
Finding Ingredients: The ingredients for potions swirl around in the game world; you can simply collect them there. In most cases, it is advisable not to buy missing ingredients with gold.
Complete Daily Tasks
Why is this important? Daily tasks reward you with gold, potions, ingredients, spell energy, and even experience points.
If you regularly complete these tasks, you will level up faster. You can make about 10-15 gold with these tasks per day at most.
Watch for Light Beams
What are those beams? In the world of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, some encounters appear on the map with light beams. As imore reports, these are high-value encounters. Be sure to take them.
At night, there are supposed to be vampires and werewolves to be found at these beams. Here, using potions is also recommended.
Keep Your Portmanteaus Active – Use These Keys
Why is this important? Portmanteaus require mileage to be opened. When you insert a key, you need to walk a certain distance to open them. Keys come in silver and gold. Silver ones are consumed, while the golden key is unique and lasts forever.
So, it’s best to use the golden key for the 2KM Portmanteaus so you can open as many as possible with it.
There are Portmanteaus available in the variants of
- 2KM
- 5KM
- 7KM
- and 10KM
To avoid wasting steps, it is important to have these Portmanteaus active while you play. It is comparable to eggs in Pokémon GO.

What are these challenges? You will likely first encounter them in daily tasks. Since they are not further explained in the game, wizards wonder how they can complete their challenges.
This is the role of Fortresses: You complete the challenges in the Fortresses at Wizards Unite. These are battles structured like dungeons. You can tackle them alone or as a group.
