In 2022, Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris attracted a large following at gamescom. It seems he is not allowed to attend the event this year.
How did MontanaBlack own gamescom? When Twitch streamer MontanaBlack attended gamescom in 2022, he caused a crowd riot. Fans followed him because they knew exactly where he was thanks to his livestream.
Many attendees at gamescom shared their experiences with the crowd of MontanaBlack fans: they reported being pushed and displaced; fans had caused intentional damage and climbed over barriers.
Something also happened during his appearance the following year: although there was no crowd riot, one female attendee had to be hospitalized due to the appearance of the Twitch streamer. In 2024, MontanaBlack did not participate in gamescom; he was banned from the event by the fair itself. The reason: he posed too great a security risk (Source: YouTube).
This year, the event will likely also take place without MontanaBlack.
MontanaBlack is rejected by gamescom
Why is MontanaBlack not allowed at gamescom? In a conversation with Twitch streamer Max Schradin, MontanaBlack revealed that he was rejected by gamescom after attempting to get accredited as a creator. The specific reason for his rejection is unknown.
However, it is suspected that he is being excluded not only because of the crowd riot in 2022 but also for a similar reason as Twitch streamer Max Schradin.
Max Schradin, who is among the newcomers of 2024, also wanted to appear at the fair as a creator. He was rejected because the event is for gamers, which Schradin would not qualify as. His content seems to lack enough gaming-related material.
If you look at the streamed content from MontanaBlack over the last year, gaming is not really predominant either. The top categories in which MontanaBlack has streamed are, according to SullyGnome, Just Chatting, IRL, and Special Events.
Only in 4th place is Minecraft, which he played for over 60 hours, while in the other categories he totals over 500 hours.
The event might have rejected Max Schradin and MontanaBlack for the same reason, or perhaps MontanaBlack is still considered too great a security risk, as in 2024. It could also be a combination of both reasons.
Both Twitch streamers could still attend the event as visitors, just like you can. If you want more information about this year’s gamescom, we have all the important details on MeinMMO: gamescom 2025: All information about tickets, dates, and games
