The three German Twitch streamers Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler, Wieland “Rumathra” Welte, and Domenic “Chefstrobel” Strobel have come together to create a challenging Pokémon challenge. However, the Trio Soul Link Challenge is quite demanding, and they decided on a LAN party for 3 days.
What is this Pokémon challenge? In June 2025, the Twitch streamers Trymacs, Chefstrobel, and Rumathra began their Trio Soul Link Challenge in the game Pokémon Black/White 2. The following main rules apply to this self-imposed challenge:
- On each route, only the first Pokémon encountered can be caught and added to the team.
- Fainted Pokémon are considered dead and may not be used again.
- The Pokémon of the three are connected. For example, if a Pokémon of Trymacs dies, the connected Pokémon of Rumathra and Chefstrobel also die.
- Items such as potions may only be used in battle if the opposing trainer has previously used an item. No items may be used in battles against wild Pokémon.
- If one loses all 6 Pokémon in battle and thus faints in the game, the challenge must be restarted.
- The goal is to obtain all eight badges and then defeat the Elite Four plus the Champion.
From June to September, Trymacs, Chefstrobel, and Rumathra played a total of over 95 hours of Pokémon Black/White 2 (Source: SullyGnome). Time and again, the Twitch streamers failed the challenge and decided to take a break from the game in August 2025.
Twitch streamers dress for the occasion
Twitch streamers start LAN party: To finally succeed in the challenge, the three Twitch streamers decided to host a LAN party. From Monday, September 22, to September 24, 2025, they played from morning until night. In total, the stream lasted 60 hours, with an average of 10,028 viewers (Source: SullyGnome).
For the 3 days, Trymacs, Chefstrobel, and Rumathra also prepared with costumes. Initially, Trymacs was seen in an Ash costume, which he regularly complained about due to its poor quality. Later, he donned a Squirtle costume, as you can see in the following clip on YouTube:
Chefstrobel was seen as the Pokémon Gengar, of which he also has a tattoo on his leg, and Rumathra donned a white costume from Team Rocket.
“We will manage this someday”
How did the challenge end? Unfortunately, even the major effort didn’t help, as the three Twitch streamers could not succeed in the Pokémon challenge. Two attempts were made during the stream. The second attempt was very promising, as legendary Pokémon were frequently present in the teams of the three.
Eventually, Trymacs, Chefstrobel, and Rumathra were able to obtain all eight badges and set out for Victory Road to challenge the Elite Four and then the Champion. However, they failed against the first trainer on Victory Road.
All three Twitch streamers faced strong Pokémon, to which their not-so-strong teams had little to counter. Group discussions were of no avail, and Rumathra’s entire team went down, thus ending the attempt.
Defeated, the Twitch streamers acknowledged their failure. Chefstrobel had some final words: “It was incredibly fun, chat. It was funny, it was frustrating. At the end of the day, it’s a game. We will manage this someday.” (Source: twitch.tv from minute 21:29:00).
At the end, the three Twitch streamers thanked their moderators who supported them during this LAN party. Then they went offline.
