Warhammer: Chaosbane has issues when playing with friends

Those who want to play the new Warhammer: Chaosbane with friends have a real problem

Since Warhammer: Chaosbane was released, it has attracted numerous players, some of whom are dissatisfied with the game. The list of problems is increasingly also including issues with multiplayer.

What is the problem? Currently, the multiplayer of Warhammer: Chaosbane does not work as intended for many PC players. Fans report this in a thread in the Steam discussion forum.

Inviting a friend to the game should actually work easily through the menu. In the game menu, under “Online Play,” a friend needs to be invited to the game. However, friends often simply do not receive an invitation.

There seem to be no such issues with local couch co-op, though. Console players also report difficulties less frequently.

Chaosbane officially released on June 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A early access with first players was available from May 31.

Those who want to play Chaosbane with friends might encounter difficulties at the moment.

How can you play together? If you do not want to rely on local co-op, you can use a little trick. As Steam users Porksnoup and Sgt art explained, you need to proceed as follows:

The Steam profiles must not be “private”
The host of the game must set their game to “public” or “friends only” in the options
The participating friend must not already be in the game. They must open the game through the invitation

If these steps are followed, playing together should work perfectly on PC at least. However, there seem to be additional issues with the mode.

These additional difficulties exist

Players repeatedly report in the Steam forums and on reddit about errors that plague multiplayer:

Mission progress is not correctly carried over, or missions cannot be completed
Rewards and loot are not properly calculated, especially in later expedition modes – less loot drops
The story progress is reset
The game crashes

All this also contributes to the declining reviews on Steam. The developers have already confirmed in a post on reddit that they are working on fixing bugs in an upcoming update. What exactly will be fixed will be revealed later in the week.
