On the latest map of Overwatch, there are strange moments. Players are kicked for inactivity, even though they are actively participating.
In Overwatch, some players are currently experiencing very strange issues on the new map Petra. They receive warnings that they will soon be kicked from the game for inactivity, despite desperately trying to find opponents.
Petra is too large: The reason for the AFK warnings lies in the size of Petra. The eight-player map is designed for the “Free-For-All” mode, also known as “Deathmatch”. It’s all about constant action and the permanent threat from other players. But that is often not the case in Petra.
The map is not only perceived as “too large” but also as too convoluted. Petra spans multiple levels, and even if you think you can hear an opponent, they could be unreachable on another level of the map.
The consequences of AFK warnings: If someone receives a notice that they will soon be kicked for inactivity, they might become a bit panicked. Because those who leave games too often without participating actively (especially in ranked modes) may face account penalties such as temporary bans. This is what creates unrest among players.
Blizzard is working on a solution: The developers at Blizzard have heard the feedback and are working on a solution. According to Bill Warnecke from Blizzard, the map will not be revised and reduced as many players have requested. Instead, the developers plan to increase the “AFK timer”. This would require more time to pass without enemy contact before players receive a warning and are subsequently kicked.
However, there is still no exact date for the update.
Have you also had problems on Petra because you couldn’t find enemies in time? Or have you always had someone conveniently walk in front of your gun?
