Update: April 19, 11:00 AM: The allocation for the PS Direct sale sold out within 10 minutes. An open sale seems very unlikely at this point. Otherwise, a queue would have been opened by now.
Update: April 19, 08:10 AM: It has only been a week since the last PlayStation Direct event, and the next one is already starting. Today from 10:30 AM, PSN members with an invitation (which were sent yesterday via email) once again have the chance to buy a PS5 directly from Sony.
It will be exciting again to see if there will be an open sale for everyone this time. Unfortunately, this has not happened in the last two events.
Update: April 12, 12:20 PM: Currently, all indications suggest that there will again be no public sale at PlayStation Direct. We are keeping an eye on that for you, nonetheless.
Update: April 12, 10:50 AM: The PS5 sale from PlayStation Direct has just started. Now we will have to wait and see if an open sale takes place afterwards.
But this is not the only way to get a PS5 right now. To encourage pre-orders of the new Sony Bravia 4K OLED TVs, all pre-order customers will receive a PS5 console for free. Almost all major retailers and electronics stores in Germany are participating in this promotion.

The PS5 drop via Sony’s direct sales PlayStation Direct is set to start today on April 12, 2022, at 10:30 AM. There are a few important things to note:
- You can only participate if you received an invitation via email from Sony yesterday afternoon. The address linked to the PSN account will be used. There is a personalized link to PlayStation Direct in the email.
- To complete the purchase, you will need a credit card. Only Visa and MasterCard are accepted. So, have the required information ready or store it in your account in advance.
- Even if you received an invitation, there is no guarantee that you will get a PS5. As with retailers, it is “first come, first served”. So be on time, as allocations are quickly sold out here as well.
