Blizzard honors comic master Stan Lee with its own NPC in World of Warcraft. We will tell you where to find him.
Blizzard is especially known for World of Warcraft for continually incorporating little Easter eggs or tributes to people in Azeroth, which one might not recognize at first glance. After the death of comic guru Stan Lee a few months ago, he is now immortalized in World of Warcraft. With Patch 8.1.5, you can meet him.
Who was Stan Lee? For many, Stan Lee is the father of comics, as he was one of the first to give characters in comics more complex personalities. A large part of the Marvel universe is attributed to him, including Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. Without Stan Lee, most of these superheroes would not exist, and both the comic and film worlds would be lacking numerous classics and blockbusters.
Where can you find Stan Lee in WoW? On the PTR of Patch 8.1.5, you can meet Stan Lee, who has been slightly renamed to “Stanley”, in the castle of Stormwind. There, he wears the armor of the guards of Stormwind and strolls through the halls. The special feature of his model is that he wears cool glasses (which very few NPCs have) and furthermore uses the model of the “thin people”, which can occasionally be seen in Kul Tiras. Players cannot use this model.
If you are in the royal castle of Stormwind in the future, pay Stanley a little visit and remember that you owe the person behind this tribute a lot of comics and movies.
What do you think of such tributes in World of Warcraft? Is it a nice gesture from the developers? Or should such things be kept out of a game?
