With the last update, not only have the remote detonations made it to Fortnite: Battle Royale, but the loot llamas have also been added. The llamas function as loot boxes in the PvE component of the game, Save the World, from which a variety of items can drop.
The implementation of the loot llamas may seem strange since there are already supply drops that can drop the best weapons. However, the loot llamas actually serve a different purpose than the coveted supply drops.
Loot llamas in Fortnite: Battle Royale – what’s inside
If you are lucky enough to stumble upon a loot llama, you can be happy as they drop a variety of items when opened:
- 500 wood
- 500 stone
- 500 metal
- Healing items
- Grenades
You will not find weapons in the loot llamas, as that would make the supply drops obsolete. All healing items can tumble out of the loot llama, and all grenades are possible. As a bonus, you get 1,500 resources and more ammunition than you can carry, including 20 rockets.
Since you cannot find a weapon in the loot llamas, this is not much help right after landing. The llamas are the perfect support for the mid-/endgame. Just the resources alone are enough for a strong fortress.
But where can you find the loot llamas? Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as it is (as so often).
How to find the loot llamas in Fortnite: Battle Royale
The loot llamas are extremely rare and only sparsely located on the Fortnite: Battle Royale map. Exact numbers are unknown, but it is rumored that there are only three of these llamas in a round, which would indeed be very rare.
Also, the locations of the llamas are completely random, right? Again, there are only rumors suggesting that the llamas appear exactly at the edge of the first safe zone. Even if this rumor is true, three llamas spread out in a line are still hard to find (especially since the radius of this circle is too large to search).
You are mainly dependent on your luck to find the loot llama. However, keep in mind that opening a loot llama takes significantly longer than opening a treasure chest:
