If you are using vehicles and especially helicopters in Call of Duty: Warzone, then one weapon class is your arch-enemy: rocket launchers. However, a player has now shown that with some skill, even a homing missile loses its threat – even without flares.
The player and reddit user Proxy2-0 has demonstrated in a short clip how he evades a homing missile from one of the rocket launchers of Warzone with ease.
After his flares do not work, he performs some risky maneuvers in the air and causes the missile to miss him – twice, before it then crashes into the ground without causing damage.
How does he do it and how can I replicate it? Proxy2-0 receives the warning that another player has targeted his helicopter and a missile is on its way to him. As a player, you usually only have two options:
- Use flares
- or exit the heli as quickly as possible.
However, the flares require very precise timing, which Proxy2-0 does not manage. He uses them too early, they fizzle out, and the missile continues flying. Instead of getting out, he turns the heli around and even flies towards the missile.
At the same time, he initiates a descent. He approaches the ground, causing the missile to fly too high and have to arc over him. However, since it is still locked onto him, it turns around and pursues him again.
Proxy2-0 flies closer to the ground once more and swings his heli at the last moment to evade the missile again, allowing it to crash into the ground next to him.
The trick is to exploit the physics of the missiles. Like all projectiles in Warzone, they have inertia that you can use against them with clever maneuvers.
Rockets and Helis – The deadliest weapons in the game?
For the shooter, this must have been quite frustrating. Rocket launchers are even stronger than before after a “nerf” and are popular among many players – not only against vehicles, but also against opponents on foot.
Their damage is usually sufficient to seriously injure or even kill opponents outright. This has led many players to prefer the KRD perk over Cold-Blooded in their loadouts.
Helis are also a frustrating matter. MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus owes his worst round to a helicopter. Recently, they have even become deadly weapons.
However, this is not about the actual helis that you can pilot, but about supply choppers. Currently, these seem to appear in the ground due to a bug and rise from there. Although they are unarmed, this can lead to your entire team being wiped out if you get hit by the rotor blades.
