In the week from April 26 to May 2, there were all sorts of insights into the future of western MMORPGs, as well as numerous beta key giveaways. We at MeinMMO summarize all the important news of the week for you.
The highlights of the week: The MMORPGs WoW and Guild Wars 2 talked about their future:
- It was revealed that Patch 9.1 and TBC in WoW Classic will not be released simultaneously. There was also a glimpse at new materials for Legendaries and hints about the return of Tier Sets.
- Guild Wars 2, on the other hand, has released a complete roadmap for summer 2021. It includes new updates, a balance patch, and a livestream for the upcoming expansion End of Dragons.

The outrage of the week: Once again, WoW is involved in the outrage of the week. Data miners have uncovered hints that a cash shop could be introduced with the expansion The Burning Crusade.

ESO bugs and a disappointing patch in Guild Wars 2
This week in the big MMORPGs:
- In WoW, the boss Ion Hazzikostas spoke about the topic of DPS and had a clear message for the players.
- In Guild Wars 2, a new patch was released, which, despite strong visuals and an epic battle, has disappointed.
- In Black Desert, there was a small update as every week. This time it brought new events and some bug fixes (via BDO). For consoles, there was also the Awakening version of the class Seer.
- In Final Fantasy XIV, not much happened, however, we from MeinMMO wrote a detailed article about why starting in this MMORPG is particularly worthwhile right now.
- Meanwhile, in ESO, there are currently heated discussions. They concern annoying bugs on the console version that are supposed to be fixed in June. Some players are threatening to cancel their ESO+ subscription because of this.
This is what happened in the smaller MMORPGs:
- On April 27, the new patch 6.3 was released in SWTOR. It brought the new season system and a Flashpoint (via SWTOR).
- Albion Online, the PvP MMORPG, has released its version for iOS and Android.
- We at MeinMMO spoke with the developers of Neverwinter about boss design.
- On April 30, the publisher Gameforge shut down the MMORPG SoulWorker. While the developers plan to bring their own version to the west, players will have to start anew.
SOLO Endgame and Beta start at Corepunk
This week in MMORPGs in development:
- Gameforge spoke in connection with Swords of Legends about future updates and Pay2Win. We have also received an exclusive insight into the endgame of SOLO.
- Corepunk has finally announced its beta. It is planned for August.
- Ashes of Creation showed huge raid bosses in a new livestream. It was also revealed when you can buy back into Alpha 1.
- The new and classic MMORPG Rise Online has started its Alpha.
- Bless Unleashed has released a new update for the upcoming beta. This included adjustments to dungeons, the UI, and quality of life in general (via Bless Unleashed).
