In the Firestorm mode of Battlefield 5 a particularly annoying problem is driving fans crazy – looting. DICE has now revealed how they intend to tackle the issue.
What are fans upset about? Collecting loot is not well implemented in the Battle Royale mode Firestorm – many fans agree on this point.
In critical situations, it is often impossible to pick up the necessary items or even to recognize them at all. This greatly hampers the enjoyment and flow of the game for many players.
Numerous fans vented their frustration about the loot system on Reddit and demanded improvements.
What does DICE intend to do about it? This criticism has not gone unnoticed by the developers. As DICE revealed in a post on Reddit, the solution for the loot problem will be delivered with the next patch (3.1). This is expected to be released later this week (first week of April).
They plan to solve the problem with a more extensive loot distribution. Items should drop over a larger area and wider radius. This should make them easier to spot and pick up. Furthermore, this should also reduce the overlap and stacking of items.
They will continue to pay attention to player feedback and are also exploring other design options to further improve looting.
This was the specific problem with looting: With this approach, DICE is trying to address the main points of criticism.
When an enemy dies in Firestorm mode, there is no loot bag or crate that can be easily searched. The individual items end up in a large chaos on the ground – often piled on top of each other or overlapping.
This quickly leads to a loss of overview. It can become extremely difficult to specifically collect the desired item or even see it. If multiple enemies are taken out in close proximity, the problem becomes even more pronounced.
Additionally, some items block others for no apparent reason, even if they are sufficiently scattered. It is often impossible to specifically pick up the item you are currently targeting.
What do you think? Will this approach improve looting? Or should DICE consider another system?
